Where we've been. And where we're going. 💐

It's officially MAY 💐

If you've been hanging out with us for a while, you know that means one of our biggest sales of the year is right around the corner.

And this year's May sale is extra special.

Back in 2016, The Creative Law Shop® started with one goal: to give creative entrepreneurs access to attorney-drafted contracts without the $300/hour price tag.

For years, that’s what we focused on: peer-reviewed, attorney-drafted templates and accessible legal education.

But we knew templates weren’t enough. So finally, in 2024, we saw a glimpse of what was possible. We rolled up our sleeves and started building the future of contract protection.

We launched the first version of the Creative Law Foundry™ — a smarter, more holistic platform designed to make customizing your template as easy as possible. (And, the first step towards building a platform that truly mimics a 1:1 consultation with an attorney.)

What began with templates has grown into something so much more. Today, the Creative Law Foundry™ includes:

  • The Contract Builder: a tool that builds your contract for you by asking the right questions (based on 400+ logic-based triggers across 50+ contracts)
  • AskLex: our AI-powered legal assistant that helps answer questions and explain contract terms in plain English
  • And of course, our signature contract templates — updated and peer-reviewed by industry experts. And while our contracts are NOT included in our Creative Law Foundry membership yet*, this IS where we are headed.

*This is now our most asked question and common misconception. We hear you. And we are working on building a solution.

We’ve spent the last year giving early access, building in public, and doing everything we can to solve the real legal problems creative business owners face.

And now, we’re getting ready for the next phase.

We're raising funds to bring on a full dev team and transform the Creative Law Foundry™ into a completely custom-built platform, one that mirrors the experience of sitting down with an attorney for a 1:1 consultation. We're talking smart dashboards, checklists, resource hubs, and a legal process that adapts to where you are in business.

Next week, we’ll invite you to be a part of making that happen.

No action is needed today. We just wanted you to hear it from us first:
The next chapter of CLS is coming, and it’s built to serve you better than ever before.

Thank you for growing with us.

Now, get out there and celebrate, because it's FRIDAY 💃💃

Let’s talk about the old way of buying a contract template. You buy the contract template. You open the Word or Google Doc. You scan through and try to figure out what each section means. You replace the highlighted parts (hopefully). And then… You cross your fingers and hope you didn’t miss anything important. And if you're a super savvy business owner, you have your attorney review it for good measure. Honestly? That’s how we operated for years. Because it is better than having nothing,...
