A Week in Toronto, A Lifetime of Impact

There’s a powerful movement happening.

Over the past year, I’ve found myself in more rooms, surrounded by more women who are actively stepping into living in their power than ever before. While women creating community is nothing new, something about this season feels different.

There's the power, connection, and authenticity that I've experienced with women in business for year... But there’s also a deeper peace. A stronger sense of inevitability.

Last week, I stepped into another one of these rooms: the UnReserved Summit.

More than a book launch and summit, it was a full-blown celebration of resilience, hosted by Ashley DeLand and featuring 24 women who have written their stories of becoming unreserved. One of those women? Our very own founder, Paige Hulse.

Paige was one of the featured authors, and I was lucky enough to be her plus-one for the events in Toronto. (It’s not often I get to hang out with Paige in person, so I jumped at the chance.) Two full days of celebration, candor, and high-frequency conversation.

So today is a celebration of our founder (and my best friend) Paige Hulse.

Oh yeah, did I mention it was her birthday too?

So, here's a note from Paige:

I rounded out my 35th trip around the sun by celebrating becoming a published author alongside some incredible co-authors.

A conversation that kept coming up this week was the “butterfly effect”; one message years ago led to deep friendships, and one event led to businesses being born. One seemingly small moment can change the trajectory of your life.

Like hiring one intern 8 years ago, right, Paige? 😏 - Teresa

I found myself thinking more about the “1 in 60” Rule: for every 1° you are off course on a flight, you will end up being 1 mile off course per every 60 miles. If just 1° off course, a flight from New York to Japan would put you 112 miles off course, somewhere over the Pacific Ocean, low on fuel, and suddenly out of options.

We’re all navigating the next chapter of our story, and our direction is determined by where we set our gaze. Listening to the wrong voices; letting fear tiptoe in and dictate our steps, even if just a little bit; those are the incremental differences that can change the course of it all.

At the same time, tucking away little nuggets from each of the stories of those who have navigated their own paths of resiliency can have the same incremental, yet compound effect on our direction. That’s why this work, this book, is so important.

Speaking on behalf of all the authors, we all walked away just a little bit better from this writing experience.

But what @ashleydeland did with the UnReserved Summit and Book Launch took that compound effect and multiplied it even further. I think this ripple effect will just continue to grow, & I couldn’t be prouder. Thank you for helping us all fix our gaze on that compound effect we can achieve together.

And if you’d like to buy a book, message me. Seriously, I got a nice workout in carrying a box of books through the airport, and would love to share these stories with you all!

There's a common saying that 'entrepreneurship is lonely." It doesn't have to be.

Here's a reminder to keep putting yourself, your work, and your story out there. You might just be exactly what someone else needs.

Until next time,

Teresa

Let’s talk about the old way of buying a contract template. You buy the contract template. You open the Word or Google Doc. You scan through and try to figure out what each section means. You replace the highlighted parts (hopefully). And then… You cross your fingers and hope you didn’t miss anything important. And if you're a super savvy business owner, you have your attorney review it for good measure. Honestly? That’s how we operated for years. Because it is better than having nothing,...
